Oil Changes That Actually Inspect The Vehicle

An oil change is the single most important thing you can do for your engine. At Supercanic San Jacinto we don't just drain and fill — every oil service includes a top-to-bottom inspection that catches problems before they cost you a transmission, an engine, or a tow. Supercanic San Jacinto is part of the Supercanic network of Southern California auto-service brands.

Our Test, Diagnose & Repair Process

01

Confirm The Right Oil Spec

Before we touch a drain plug we look up your vehicle's exact spec — viscosity, API rating, manufacturer approval (dexos, MB 229.5, VW 502, etc.). Putting 5W-30 in an engine that calls for 0W-20 will void warranties and damage internals. We get it right the first time.

02

Lift, Drain, And Inspect The Pan

Vehicle goes on the lift. We crack the drain plug and let the old oil flow into a catch pan. While it drains, we inspect the pan, the drain plug threads, and the gasket. Stripped threads or a leaking plug? We tell you now, not when oil's pouring into your driveway tomorrow.

03

Replace The Filter Properly

New OEM-grade filter, hand-tightened to spec — not impact-gunned to oblivion. We pre-fill the filter on engines where the housing allows, so you don't crank a dry engine for 5 seconds the next morning.

04

Refill With The Correct Amount

Manufacturer-specified quantity, no eyeballing. We use the fill chart, then verify on the dipstick after a 60-second idle. Overfilling causes foaming and seal damage. Underfilling kills bearings.

05

Multi-Point Inspection (Free With Every Oil Change)

While you're here, we check brakes (pad thickness, rotor condition), tires (tread depth, wear pattern, pressure), all fluid levels, belts, hoses, battery voltage, lights, and wipers. You get a written report — green, yellow, or red on every item. No upsell pressure. Just information.

06

Reset The Maintenance Light & Log It

We reset your oil life monitor, apply a sticker with mileage and date, and log the service so next time you bring it in we know exactly what oil, what filter, and when. Records you can show a buyer or a dealer.

How We Get It Right

What We Use

  • Lifts & Floor Jacks — Two-post lifts so we get under the vehicle safely — no creeper-on-the-driveway oil changes.
  • OE-Spec Oil — Valvoline, Mobil 1, Castrol, Pennzoil — full synthetic, blend, or conventional based on your vehicle.
  • OEM-Grade Filters — WIX, Fram Ultra, K&N, or OEM. No bargain-bin filters that bypass after 1,500 miles.
  • Torque Wrenches — Drain plugs torqued to spec. Stripped pans are expensive — we don't strip them.
  • OBD-II Scan Tool — We reset the oil-life monitor properly on every make. Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, GM, Ford — they all reset different.
  • Inspection Report Tablet — Every multi-point inspection generates a written report you can email, print, or pull up next visit.

What We Install

  • Full Synthetic Oil — 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30, 0W-40, 5W-40, diesel-specific blends — whatever your motor calls for.
  • Synthetic Blend — For older vehicles where full synthetic isn't required, blend gives protection without overpaying.
  • Diesel Engine Oil — CK-4 / FA-4 diesel-rated for Cummins, Duramax, Power Stroke.
  • Drain Plug Gaskets — Crush washers replaced every service — that's why your old plug leaks.
  • Cabin & Air Filters — Inspected free, replaced if needed (cheaper than the dealer, same parts).

★ Common Questions ★

Frequently Asked

How long does an oil change take?
Most oil changes are done in 30–45 minutes. If we find something on the inspection — say, a brake pad at 2mm — we'll quote it before doing any extra work. You decide.
How often should I really change my oil?
Conventional: every 3,000–5,000 miles. Synthetic blend: 5,000–7,500. Full synthetic: 7,500–10,000 in normal driving. If you do short trips, tow, or drive in San Jacinto summer heat, shorten those intervals — heat is the #1 enemy of oil.
Do you use the right oil for my car?
Yes. We look up your VIN-specific spec. We will not put generic 5W-30 in a Mercedes that calls for 229.5, or skip dexos in a GM truck. The wrong oil voids warranties and shortens engine life.
Will an oil change void my factory warranty?
No. Federal law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) protects you. We use OEM-spec oil and filters, give you written records, and follow the manufacturer's schedule — your warranty stays valid.
Why does my engine still make noise after an oil change?
Two reasons: either the old oil was too thin and was masking a real issue (worn lifters, timing chain), or there's an underlying problem. We listen to your engine during the inspection — if something's not right, we tell you.
